How should a slightly unattractive guy approach an attractive woman?

I've had attractive girlfriends in the past, but only after they had time to get to know me properly. It's just that I'm fat, and women tend to not respond very well to a random approach. So how should I approach a girl to capture her interest and attention for a little while, just to get her talking so she gets to know me?

I know a true story about this!

I know this really fat person who takes up more than one seat on a bus. He's a nerd who plays Dungeons and Dragons and video games, and looks greasy. He's the type you would think girls would shy away from. If those girls had pictures of him on their phone showing their male friends in the bar them, telling them that she slept with him; they would all roll their eyes in their mind and think "how can ya bang dat?" Somehow he manages to get laid. In his own words...

It's just the mindset of what you think. If I go to a club and not care what anyone thinks, just go about my business, I get laid. If I go to a club trying to get laid, caring and making an effort, I don't get laid. It happens when I'm not thinking about it and don't expect it. Trying it doesn't work. Girls can read it off my face, the way I talk to them, my body language, my intentions, they can pick it up.
He is a nerd, but he's a socialable nerd. Whatever club he goes to, I want to go to it. He knows so many cool people, and knows where the cool people are at.

Talking about me, I rarely approach anyone, but I make people approach me by the way I act. That deserves another question in itself.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
