Is a religious person less good than an atheist person IF he/she only does good for the reward of an afterlife?

The question was edited to resemble the original question which was edited by someone else, changing the meaning completely.

tynamite's avatar If they are the religious fanatics, that believe that "everything happens for a [divine] reason", and that someone dying in their sleep or being murdered is part of "God's plan", then the answer to that is yes. Those sort of people will behave the way they've always wanted to behave, for example being promiscuous, swearing etc; once they get into heaven. Mating season is over, now we can let ourselves go. They do the things that contrast from what they really want to do.

The people that don't believe in God's plan rubbish, not believing in [religious] determinism, will be the people with a moral code that they can identify with personally, regardless of social and religious pressures; and if religion makes those people nicer, than the answer will be no, as those people do nice things because they personally truly want to do it as the right thing to do, not because a holy book tells them to. They do the things that agree with them.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
