Why do some Americans insist on believing in the "War On Terror" as a legitimate concern?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)
An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.
Richer people have better health.
The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?
And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
There is no freedom of the press
Where I live in the UK, it is illegal to implement a law without letting citizens know about it, or make a change to public services that is in our general interest to know, without letting us know about it through the media. This is why the BBC News stated that David Cameron sold arms to Libya, and the newspapers saying that Gadaffi got an Olympics 2012 ticket. The arms coverage only got 2 minutes airtime and was only covered once among a two weeks of telling us how corrupt they are, but it was covered. In America, no such information for the general interest of the public exists.
The mainstream media in America is allowed to publish whatever side of the story they want, with no duty to give you the other side. Freedom of the press is non-existent there. All the media outlets in America are united in telling the one side of the story, and never the other side. There is no report on American tv about Occupy Wall Street which seeks opinions from both sides. Anyone who has a viewpoint or interest that doesn't match up with the ones of the corporations is silenced. There is no duality of interests with the media and news companies in America, they all take the one opinion and viewpoint.
America being corrupt
The real reason why America is at war, is to steal crude oil from other countries. The Pentagon pushes propaganda out to the mainstream media to show the war in a good light, and tell lies about the war being a war on terror.
What happened is that America wanted oil from Saddam Hussein, but he said no. America then bribed him with lots of money to go corrupt, and he still refused. America not having its own way, started to assassinate him. Saddam Hussein isn't a tyrant as the media would have you believe. Actually Iraq is worse off now that he's dead.
