Should British Prime Minister David Cameron have taken a stand on the pay of the RBS CEO?

Was Ed Milliband right to say Cameron should have taken a stand?

What are potential consequences for inaction here? Cameron has criticised shareholders for not reining in excesses but when it is the public's money should the same rule apply?

In my opinion, everyone should be entitled to whatever bonus they want, no matter how much it is, whether they work for the public sector or not. They worked for it, so they should be able to get it. Your taxpayers money being used for bonuses isn't exactly doing you a disservice, is it? Are things actually going to improve for the public, if these bankers don't get their bonuses?

There is an ancient saying that had its roots in the British Empire, that still carries its way into Britain in the 21st century today.
"If people are too busy worrying about the small things, they'll be too busy to worry about the big things."

This is what allowed the British Empire to reign for hundreds of years, and it is the same concept, that David Cameron is using to distract people from the real economic issues at hand.

They know that we have a problem with the current economic situation in Britain, so rather than deal with the real issues at hand, David Cameron will address fruitless issues such as bankers' bonuses. This makes it look like he cares and that he's helping, when he really isn't helping one bit. Yet everyone will be happy with him and think that he does, because he's taking the [faux] protagonist's stance, "supporting" for their cause.

This is a really clever tactic, and I see it being used time and time again, fooling the general public every single time.

Due to the public outcry of bankers' bonuses, there are now new laws in place right now, that restrict the bonuses that bankers can get. Basically the public have got what they want, but David Cameron will milk this issue for all its worth. By the way, Stephen Hester got a £2m bonus last year, so congratulations to the public!

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
