What are some 'facts' still being taught in school, that have been proven to be false?

It would be great if we could source/explain why these facts taught in school are false.

Here do not post something that is wrongly taught by your school teacher but post that is wrong in school books and curriculum as there are numerous examples of teachers who by mistake taught something "false".

In the UK, school children nowadays are taught the misleading things in early years, and then are told to forget that, and are taught the real way in later years. I can't remember all the things, but they are all to do with science. The curriculum permits teachers to do this. If the teachers don't do this, then the children won't be able to understand basic concepts.

Why don't you try explaining how Cancer develops, and how radiotherapy kills Cancer, to an 8 year old? And then afterwards, start teaching them about the digestive system, and the respiratory system - as they learn at that age - with a skeleton model?

You should never try to dismantle a smoke alarm as you could seriously injure yourself.
