Why does Wikipedia use the term "religion" for what are sects or rites?

Look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwight_D._Eisenhower on the right side you'll see written "Religion Presbyterianism". There is no religion called "Presbyterianism", but there is a Christian sect/rite called that way.

While there are editorial guidelines for articles, there is no consistency in the style of writing, and the categories that the articles fall in. While Wikipedia reviewers do their job to make sure that articles are impartial, referenced, and substantial; they make no guarantee to make sure that everything is done completely accurately, especially categorising

If you go to Wikipedia now and look for music genres, you'll find that there are thousands of them. People literally make up their own music genres, just for the self gratification of being able to prove that they invented it. Years ago, I made some edits on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Foundation, which were fundamental in improving your experience browsing those 2 websites today. Later on, someone will do that again.

But the amount of policing new content and authors, means that organisation and structure is frivulously problematic.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
