Why do most people assume we have free will?

Most people might assume I'm asking this question in a Theistic way, but if we live in a causal universe how can free will exist at all? God or no things either happen at random (i.e. quantum mechanics) or they were caused by a previous event. In either case I see no room for Uncaused non random events to occur. Thoughts anyone?

Right now I'm hungry and thirsty. Gotta run!

I chose to not eat anything until 14:31pm, because I woke up late, was
too busy adding Quora questions to my drafts before they disappear off
my news feed, and writing my trading journal as I was ordered to.

I'm going to use the last of the cereal in my house, and drink a glass of water.

I would go to the corner shop and buy some Ribena squash and cereal, but I've used the atm twice this week yesterday, and don't want to use it a third time to break into my money. I've just been paid, so I don't want to blow everything in 1 week - especially on junk food.

Don't fret. These are all my choices. I'm happy doing what I want!

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
