Does MintChip have a better potential than Bitcoin to become the pre-eminent digital currency?

What are the advantages of using MintChip (when available) over Bitcoin? Will MintChip overcome Bitcoin's criticisms?

tynamite's avatar No because Mintchip is a fiat currency (issued by the government), and Bitcoin is honest money (the opposite).

What makes honest money different to fiat money, is that whilst the value of fiat currency is directly dictated by the government, as they can tax more to reduce inflation and print more money to increase inflation; the value of honest money is purely dictated by the market.

What this means, is that currencies like Bitcoin, are given value entirely by the people who use Bitcoin. Nobody can print more money, or delete money from the Bitcoin economy. Its creation is determined using a fixed algorithm, that cannot be changed. The value of Bitcoin is determined entirely by the people who use Bitcoin. People aren't forced to use it. Governments don't demand tax in Bitcoin, they demand it in their fiat currency.

As Bitcoin is honest money, it is not subject to the perpeptual accelerating growth, which is constantly devaluing the value of currencies worldwide.

As currencies worldwide lose their value, more and more people are turning to gold, to secure their investment, and use that as a currency instead, as nobody has the power to manipulate the value of gold.

Also MintChip is made by the Canadian government. Do you think that's anonymous?

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
