Is the money spent on advertising immoral?

Someone mentioned to me that he believed that the millions spent on advertising on the SuperBowl was immoral. It made me think of many of the benefits as well as the limits. Google for example is a company that provides many services that people enjoy because of the money that it has earned because of advertising revenue.

tynamite's avatar Advertising and the money spent on advertising isn't immoral, because without advertising, you would not be able to know about anything new.

We live in a capitalist society, so without the ability for one to advertise their products or services, we wouldn't be able to consume any other products, other than ones made by Transnational Corporations, and whilst Coca Cola and Ford cars become commonplace, new products like Levi Roots and Smart, wouldn't be able to be known about.
It would reduce competition, and cease the ability for new companies to become profitable.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
