How do I get the energy to be social?

I find that being social takes a lot of energy. It takes a lot of mental energy for me to really listen to and understand what people are saying, energy which I often just dont have (I go to a very stressful college). When I do muster up the energy, I find it easy and fun to connect to people, but I can only keep it up for so long. Eventually, people see me when I'm tired and form a bad impression of me. This happens pretty often, mostly when I'm stressed. You could call it social laziness.

Does everyone go through this? Or do you find that being social is effortless?

Secondly, do you have any suggestions on how to improve the situation? My response has always been to try to be energetic and attentive, but sooner or later people see me when Im stressed or tired, and from then on I just stop trying.

I realize this is a confusing question - feel free to press for any details.

tynamite's avatar I'm an introvert, and I have to make the effort.
I am friends with really loud extroverts, and they have to make the effort.
Contrary to what you might see on the tv or around you, socialising is not one of those things that "just does".

Time and effort goes into it.
There is no way you can circumvent making the effort, if you want to socialise. When meeting new people, nothing comes easy to anyone, as nothing is granted.

That's Part 1 done, for Part 2 of how you can learn be social and improve the new situation, you should ask a new question that is specific to what you want to ask. For example, How do you meet new friends in a new city?

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
