What is the difference between right and wrong?

It's common to expect others to "know the difference between right and wrong." Since it's supposedly common knowledge, what is it?

tynamite's avatar I see this question is tagged with Philosophy of Everyday Life, and big philosophical questions like these, deserve philosophical and technical answers.

I'll take a stab at this.

Technically is no difference between right and wrong, as right and wrong is an opinion, and morals/ethics/rules, whatever you want to call it, are not facts, they are opinions.

Morals are an opinion, and opinions are not facts.

Morals are what we say they are, nothing more, nothing less.

If you tried to get a computer to define right and wrong, you couldn't, because it is all subjective and without uniformity.

With that said, I do not agree with Moral Relativism. So I do not agree that laws in another country are just as equal and just as the laws where I live in Britain. I have strong views against the Royal Family and other countries' laws.

As liberating as polygamy, gay marriage and abortions are, there are people in this world who engage in those things, yet still agreeing with the government that it's wrong to do. To them it's wrong, to you it's right. They agree with their government but still do what's prohibited by them anyway, so considering they thought about those controversial choices more, does that make your belief wrong?

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
