I basically summarised his speech into snappy sentences. Of course he never said those words exact, but the words I used in my answer, is what he meant.
I think when you look at the Facebook usage metrics and data, the best thing for Facebook is going to be to eliminate privacy.

They will often look up women in advance to see if they are attractive and what social events they attend and the people they hang out with.
Does Mark Zuckerberg believe in privacy?

so you admit that he didn't say what you are claiming he said in either of those sources, right?tynamite

No because Mark Zuckerberg wants us to share as much personal information as possible, with as much people as possible at once. That's what he really wants. And that's what he meant when he said the things in the sources.tynamite

But that's not what he said. How do you know what he meant? The point of sources is to find a thing where someone actually said the thing you claim they said.tynamite

I remember what I thought when I wrote my answer, and having read the sources two years later, and seeing four paragraphs of his speech, I am very sure, that that's what he meant when he said what he said.I basically summarised his speech into snappy sentences. I strongly disagree on your reading, your summary, and your assertion that this is an acceptable way of sourcing things.tynamite

I was very appreciative of Adisa adding his sources, yes. I work with Mark every day so when I hear people make claims about what he thinks it makes me wonder where they heard them. In particular, I think the careful reader will find that Mark never actually said the phrase in question though he has been widely paraphrased as saying such (see the final source). He said we try to imagine that if we were starting the company today this is how we would do it. That is quite different than "doing it all over again" which implies a more retrospective opinion. Also, the first source listed is a pretty lame anonymous hearsay source which I think has no credibility and also isn't actually a source for this answer.tynamite

I think its a valid stance on privacy. People do not seem to care. Less privacy is often better.I think when you look at the Facebook usage metrics and data, the best thing for Facebook is going to be to eliminate privacy.

I know people that spend hours browsing photos on Facebook like zombies. They would have fewer and less interesting photos to browse if everyone's photos were not public. They will often look up women in advance to see if they are attractive and what social events they attend and the people they hang out with.
