Are computer programmers essentially slave owners?

The computer is their slave. It does exactly what they tell it to do. So in a sense, it seems that computer programmers own slaves.

Does this have a negative impact on the way they interact with people? Maybe they expect people to do as they are told?

Taking this further, what about robot programmers -- especially where the robots are quite lifelike?

tynamite's avatar To people like you, computers are slaves. You click, type or tap something, and the computer does what it's told.

To programmers, computers are frustrating tools that don't always do what we want. You get error messages because programmers predefined them as they coded it in. Have you any idea the frustration that programmers get when something that should work, doesn't? To programmers computers are like quiet unhelpful children who don't understand when they've done something wrong, so you always have to spell it out and work things out for yourself without sufficient feedback.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
