tynamite's avatar Non-programmers compare programmers to sub-atomic physicists, who are expertly crafty for going deep into the underlying technology of things. Such people like that are clever, and so far removed from the normal everyday people , who merely interact with the life that we live, and cannot break it down.

Tell someone you've coded an algorithm for checking if a player has won Tic Tac Toe, and watch their faces be all shocked that you're some technical wizard.

Tell someone you've designed, coded, and that you're hosting your own website that they say looks good, and they'll be shocked and think that you're someone else on another level. They have trouble understanding how the internet works, let alone using it.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
