Why are most startups so secretive?

It seems to be part of the startup mentality.

tynamite's avatar Because ideas are irreplaceable, whereas people aren't. Ideas are to be treated with upmost secretiveness and preciousness, as there are richer people who can copy your idea and kill you off with their larger marketing budget.

I don't believe that it's about the execution and not the idea. In the world of business, marketing always dictates whether a company wins or loses. The one with the better marketing strategy always wins, regardless of how the idea was executed.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
