Why does Amazon.com's source code have so much whitespace?

tynamite's avatar Because their website's layout is irregular, and has loads of interchangable widgets, and sections which can be in the page or not be, at any given moment, there really isn't any time or reason for the source code to be all neat and tidy.

If they tidied up one widget/section to make it all nicely indented, they would have to indent all the parts that appear after and before it as well. With so many combinations of widgets and sections, it's just not worth the hassle.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
