Why is it recommended to eject the USB safely before removing it physically?

What process takes place when we eject usb safely or otherwise?

tynamite's avatar Some people will say this is bad, but I just close down all the programs that are using files on my external hard/flash drive, and then pull the usb out once it's closed. I never use the eject feature, and I've never had a data loss problem in my life. If files are not being used, there will be no such thing as having (bad) clusters.

*(When a computer says you have clusters like in Windows 9x, it means that you have bad clusters, and need to defragment your hard drive. That's what You have clusters means.)

Update

Because if you pull out your USB drive at the same time a file is being written (saved), the file will end up being corrupt.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
