Has Quora rekindled the love of writing among its users?

tynamite's avatar No, because Quora is not writing. It can never make me want to write.

I fail to see how typing my thoughts onto a computer screen constitutes as writing. I think my thoughts every day, except that now instead of them going unnoticed, I am instead sharing my thoughts with you lot. Retelling something I read somewhere to you isn't writing as well. Writing is something that I have to construct and design, whereas here I'm just retelling how I think. It is not the same.

If my answers are writing, which they're not, then my conversations and debates are also writing worthy material too. By that concept, I should record the next debate I have with my brother that will last hours, transcribe it, and make it a Post on Quora. I've stopped blogging and writing novels, and my recent usage of Quora isn't changing my mind.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
