What happened is that Google+ launched because Facebook poses a big threat to Google. Then to retaliate, Facebook launched Smart Lists, Subscribe, Skype intregation and the Timeline. All of which would not of happened without Google+. Twitter saw this then started making #newnewtwitter to make Twitter look more like Facebook, and then Quora has changed of its own accord. Quora has no threats so they're fine. Quora has always looked like Facebook, and now the Timeline.
