Why don't many gay people believe that same-sex attraction could be a psychological development?

tynamite's avatar What do you mean by psychological development? Homosexuality is genetic, so doesn't that our favourite colours or fundamental fears could possibly be a psychological development as well? Of course not.

For something to be a development, it has to improve something. A genetic personal preference improves nothing. Really though, the only improvement being gay has, is that it creates sexual attraction for people who would otherwise be asexual.

Being homosexual isn't any more of a psychological development than being heterosexual. To compare being gay to being straight, being gay isn't any more of an improvement psychologically, and vice versa.

If you was to ask whether it's an improvement in terms of nature, I would say no as gay people cannot reproduce themselves, but psychologically, my answer is not applicable and the same amount as it would be for straight people.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
