What's the preferred term for a UX designer for hire: "freelance" or "independent?"

I've heard both, and I'm curious to know why you prefer one or the other.

tynamite's avatar Use the word freelance. It makes you look worse using independent as that makes you look pretentious. If you was independent, you wouldn't need to look for freelance clients. If you was independent, you would be working on your own projects.

To use pretentious words while getting clients, that would cause the client to question your credibility, and put more question makes in his/her head when finding something not similar to the brief on the portfolio. Just be honest, saying you're a freelancer, and that you're looking to X.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
