If something is not observable, but only postulated by equations, how do we know it exists?

eg time is not observable, nor are photons, electon spins, etc, how do we know they actually exist??

tynamite's avatar We know they exist, not because we have observed them, but because our observations support the proposal that they could exist. That's how theoretical physics works. Einstein was right about a lot of things, and all he did was thought experiments.

Around every 20 years, we get proven wrong. First it was that the world was round, then it was Radiation, and now it's that neutrinos move faster than light.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
