tynamite's avatar Imagine that your friend is on her way to meet you outside in the city centre. On his or her way, he or she, comes across a suitcase in the street filled with a million dollars. Later on she meets you, and she's carrying the suitcase. You don't know what's in the suitcase, she hasn't told you, and you don't care to ask.

Later on your mother rings you, and when asked where you are or if she already knew where you are, she asks you to put your friend on. Your mother asks your friend what happened today, and he or she replies that they've got a suitcase with a million dollars in it. They both have a lengthy conversation, and your friend gives your phone back to you once they've done. Your mother then tells you that she told your friend to give you some of that money, as she's got too much. She then says "Make sure she gives you some of that million dollars. Don't leave her without getting any of it." Once you hang up and put your phone back, your friend promises that you'll get some of the money.

Your friend tells you that he or she finds it unnerving carrying around a big suitcase full of money, and that he or she would like to dump it. Your friend then adds that opening up a big suitcase prior paying for something would arouse suspicion, and that they doesn't want to get robbed. You both go to the Post Office to watch your friend buy some envelopes. You see your friend putting various amounts of money into the different envelopes that had been brought. Observing what's going on, you notice that one of these envelopes only has $30 in it. The rest have at least $3000 in them. You also notice that there are empty envelopes. Your friend tells you that he or she brought extra by mistake when it's seen that you notice this. Afterwards, all the envelopes are put away in his or her bag.

For the time you are in town, you both have a really enjoyable time. Eventually it's time to go, and you remind your friend to give you some money. "Oops I almost forgot" your friend says. Whether your friend would have remembered regardless of your reminder, you do not know.

Your friend gives you an envelope of money, whilst you walk off. As you are walking off with your envelope, you are wondering whether you got the $30 envelope.

Does your friend believing in invisible entities such as Gods, make her more likely to give you an empty envelope, as it makes them less trustworthy?

.................................

I'm sure you don't need me to answer that one. I'm not going to put words into your mouth. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
