Savory as opposed to sweet.

Because sugar is a cash crop, and cash crops are addictive. As they are addictive, they make food manufacturers and retailers a lot of money compared to other foods.

To be defined as savoury it doesn't mean it is just 'not sweet' it needs to also be spicy or salty (actually taste salty as a lot of sweet foods can have salt added). These cereals may not have sugar added but the fruit content makes them naturally sweet (maybe not to your preference, but by definition they have sugar).

For the ones that don't have sugar added (either by the consumer or the manufacturer), I can see why it less obvious. These are just pure carbohydrate (starches or complex sugars). Milk is added to them which contains lactose (sugar). Both of these things will make them far closer to a sweet dish than a savoury dish.

Yes fruit does have a naturally occurring sugar in it called sucrose, but it is not as bad as cane sugar that typically gets added to cereals. Diabetics can eat fruits, so there shouldn't be a problem with muesli, even though they have raisins in it.

The original question isn't about if it is a problem but whether it is savoury. Do you consider a bowl of grapes a sweet or savoury snack? I think most people wouldn't consider it a savoury snack.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
