What makes Google+ more attractive than a forum with a shoutbox?
Lack of orginality

Entering a new market
I don't think that Google+ is a competitor to Facebook. What intrigues me the most is that Google+ looks like a service used to make new friends, rather than keep in touch with the friends you already have. Google+ is entering the make new friends market thanks to their Circles feature.
-------------> Google+ is about you sharing content with your friends, so that Google learns about what people like. Why would you want to join a social network that exists solely for you to virally advertise website links and products with people you don't know?
