Why do so many people dislike Wikipedia as a source for information?

tynamite's avatar People dislike Wikipedia because it causes children and students to be lazy. What use is there getting people to do assignments, if they can copy and paste the information off Wikipedia?

As we are supposed to be academic, we are also expected to know how to research for information ourselves and write it up into an essay. By allowing people to use Wikipedia for their work, it does the opposite and causes people to be dumb and not understand the subject they are learning.

That's why Wikipedia is banned for assignments.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
