Why does the Business Software Alliance (BSA) support PROTECT-IP but not SOPA?

tynamite's avatar Protect IP allows the government to block the domain names of piracy websites.

SOPA allows the government to block the domain names and payment sources of piracy websites and social networking and user generated content websites where copyrighted material is shared for downloading as well as used in passages (Quora/Wikipedia) and works (YouTube videos) despite the website following DMCA safe harbour laws, and the work in question following fair usage.

If SOPA is passed, anyone breaking such laws will of committed a crime classed as a felony. This means that you could end up in prison. Anyone who uploads covers of songs on YouTube will be breaking the law. It's doubtful that anyone will go to prison over this, but the RIAA will most likely use the fact that it's a felony, to extort money out of teenagers.

Music streaming websites that the RIAA don't like, such as Google Music, Grooveshark, Amazon Music Player, and MP3Tunes will shut down too; despite the courts letting MP3Tunes win a court case against the RIAA.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
