What is the difference between current and voltage? What is the significance of them in electric circuits?

There may be lots of differences, but I need the significance of them in electric circuits.

tynamite's avatar Voltage is the power of the electrical current moving through the wire, and amps is the amount of pressure/strength it uses. A good analogy is a hammer ready to crush an egg.

hammer above an egg

Voltage is how powerful the hammer is, whether it's a small hammer or a big one.
Amps is how much pressure the hammer uses. It is possible for a high voltage/weight hammer to hit the egg, without cracking it.

This is why tazers can shock people with 300 volts without killing them, because the amps are low.

The current is the river flow of the electricity.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
