An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

The reason why Apple's products are expensive, is because their business model is to be the minority that covers the cream of the market where the money lies. The rest of the companies in the market are lie at the bottom, fighting each other for market share, while the cream lies untouched, bathing in immense profits. This is called premium pricing, which is also the reason why Coca Cola is expensive.
Apple is Ferarri, and everyone else is Ford.

From an economist viewpoint, Apple's products are not overpriced, as people are still buying it. There is a rule that says "How you know if something is the right price, is if people are still buying it." Apple is the number 1 portable electronics company, beating Sony, Philips, and now they're have more revenue than Microsoft.From a business standpoint, Apple's products are not overpriced, as Apple is a hardware company, and Microsoft and Google are software and advertising companies, respectively. Microsoft software is expensive, and they charge to license software in fields that other companies don't. Google advertising is expensive too at $6 a click for their AdWords advertising. A business person would argue that Apple is as expensively priced as other companies, except for that the customer do not pay for the products that Microsoft (piracy) and Google (adverts) make.

There is evidence for this, as Apple has sacrifised market share for profits, leaving Android to get so big, as Apple let it, by staying exclusive to AT&T. I can't be bothered to find the link. iPhone has the most profits, and Android has the most market share.
