If God exists, why is there suffering and/or evil? Why does he allow tragedies? How does one rationalize that? If free will explains human disasters, what explains natural disasters?

tynamite's avatar Because the devil might not actually be evil, if you think about it.
Satan the angel, only became known as the devil, when he asked God to become god, and God said no.

With a narcisstic God that has a commandment such as "You shall worship no God but me." and a Bible that says that only Christians go to heaven; you could argue that God is oppressive to other gods.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that the devil is evil. All it says, is that the devil plants temptation for people to go to hell, and that hell is a bad place. The devil didn't actually do bad to Jesus when he met him, and the devil doesn't actually make people do bad things, even Eve eating the apple, you could argue that it was not evil.

Satan could be a better god than God, and you would never know. Plus God has a history of smiting things and being manavolent. Can you say the same for Satan?

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
