Is it sensible for me to still feel an obligation to avoid purchasing items from companies that benefited from Jewish slave labor under the Nazi regime?

I am Jewish and I refuse to buy most German cars as many of them (VW and Mercedes I know off the top of my head) benefited from Jewish slave labor during WW2. I just read on Quora that Hugo Boss was a staunch Nazi supporter and the official producer of all Nazi uniforms and now I am upset that I own some of his shirts. Is this a reasonable sentiment to still have?

I'll rephrase that in a better way

Should you buy products from companies who benefited from slavery over 137 years ago, whose CEOs today, have no responsibility for?

  • Morgan Chase, Barclays, Manhattan Bank; Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds TSB, Bank of America, and nearly all banks.
  • Nearly all insurance companies.
  • Norfolk Southern, CSX, Union Pacific and Canadian National railways
  • Newspaper publishers Knight Ridder, Tribune, Media General, Advance Publications, E.W. Scripps and Gannett, parent and publisher of USA TODAY.
  • Tate and Lyle and all sugar companies.
  • Most big name companies in California and Massachusetts
  • I will update this name with more companes later on.
  • Every fashion, manufacturing and farm company, that was involved with cotton.

Are black people today, owed reparations from the companies that profited from slavery?

If an black person marries into a white or asian family, should they have the responsibility of paying reparations too?

Are you willing to not wear cotton for the rest of your life?

(I'm sure you can answer all of these rhetorical questions.)

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
