What does the word "stereotype" mean exactly?

Is it a belief about an entire group or also about any individual in that group?

Is it an incorrect belief about a group? Or is it just about making assumptions about an individual in the group based on something that is possibly correct about the group?

tynamite's avatar A stereotype is when a particular group of people is typecast to be a certain way, to the extent, so that if one of the group is alone and behaving individually, they are tarnished with the same brush as the group of people, and not judged by their own merits.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
