What should a shy person tell themselves when criticized?

Someone critized me recently. It's been disturbing me for days, and I can't stop thinking about. It's not even that this person was criticizing my work or something else--they meant me. Usually I can talk myself out of overthinking things, but not now.
I've read books about shyness that teach you to view events from multiple perspectives and to not to let things bother you, but it skipped over criticism entirely.
How should shy people react to criticism? How should they deal with it?

We're all human. These sorts of things don't just happen to you.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
