How do you vet new tech innovations without getting ripped off?

I have an idea to reflect social impacts on websites. I am putting NDAs in place but are there any trappings I should be aware of?

tynamite's avatar I don't know what country you're from, but if you're from the UK, a patent costs £500 and lasts for 20 years. For each consequtive year, you're required to pay £50 more than you did last year until that 20 years is up. Make sure you research people who help on funding inventions. Inventions are much more likely to be funded than startups (new businesses).

If you get someone to sign an NDA agreement, and don't patent your work, there's nothing stopping someone else from patenting it first in another country, and you'll have no way to legally prove that you patented it first, in the High Court (Europe) or the Supreme Court (America).

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
