How do you teach design innovation?

tynamite's avatar Teaching a design innovation class, is like teaching a music innovation class to get a class of 30 students as creative and innovative as Kanye West. That's just not going to work. With that attitude, you will never produce the next Steve Jobs or a business like Ikea.

What you can do is teach them design theory (chord progressions), usability practises (how to start a song), and give them loads of ideas (listen to loads of genres of music), for them to come up with innovative ideas.

The phrase, You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink, applies here.

PS. The music equivalent of what I put in brackets are displaying an implied hierachy, laying out content effectivly and visiting loads of nicely designed websites and sometimes analysing why they work. Teach them that, and the rest will follow; but make no guarantees.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
