What are some socially acceptable addictions?
tynamite's avatar Anything that has its roots in consumerism, is an acceptable addiction for you to have. Don't blame your peers, blame your capitalist society.

Caffeine, Nicotine, Tobacco and Sugar. Cash crops.
On demand services
Branded goods
Fashion trends

News Feeds and Status Updates
Prejudice against the opposition
The latest Apple product
Internet memes

Don't think about the memes you are bombarded with every day. Just do what they tell you to do without thinking about it. Consumerism just wants us to have more and more, because consumerism is your friend.

Pop tarts for breakfast?

Can you think of anything more useless than a straw?

Scarves when it's not windy or cold?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Fridays. That's one thing we all love.

And then after the weekend or the holiday, come Monday, we will do it all over again!

And while we are, we'll do materialistic things like this.

Instead of this, which we should be doing now

Because if we don't we'll have more children on Twitter wanting to throw away their iPhone 4 to get an iPhone 4S. All that's new on it is the camera.

You should have seen the tweets where children couldn't wait to throw their iPhones away before the new one was even on sale. Consumerism. What can you do?

Don't question authority. Just do what you're told.

Spend spend spend! Live it up with your wallets.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
