Women lower their standards when the men they go after turn out to be players. A woman's age will make her lower her standards, when she realises that the men she wanted are already taken. On the flip side, there are plenty of pretty women in their 30s who get turned down by the men that they like.

Because he walked into the wrong club or spotted a red herring slag. You would be surprised how many women like it. Logically, if it never worked, they would never do it, right? ;)
