tynamite's avatar I have never asked or answered a question anonymously, as I find anonymity on Quora less about protection from persecution, and more about deflecting negative traits that one may have about the OP.

For example, have you ever noticed that Question That Contains Assumptions are full of questions asked anonymously? o_O What's that about? I find anonymity on Quora to be a load of rubbish. I will now quote my answer on Quora about anonymity.

People answer anonymously because they want to do not want to be associated with negative attributes by the Quora community, as they are posting with their real names. I'll explain by quoting my answer for Adisa Nicholson's answer to How do users of Quora, who reveal their identity, feel about users who ask and answer questions anonymously?

Most people who answer anonymously just do so, to feel good about themselves, as if posting anonymously, makes it look like it's not them who thinks the things that they think. People seem to not want to attribute themselves with negative things on Quora. That explains why people are anonymous on What does it feel like to be attractive and desired by many? They don't want to be seen as full of themselves. I don't carry a façade on Quora.

I think that anonymous answers are in general a load of rubbish.

Update

Why does Quora put up with this sexism and misandry?
Sadly most people here are not open minded (How do you get better at learning what you do not know you do not know?), and have no backbone to stand by the words that they say.

Accusative questions could be averted, if people had the backbone to voice their concerns on the applicable answer.

Offense to others who read Question That Contains Assumptions, (which mostly is full of sexist questions which are derogrative to women), could easily be averted, if people could stop hiding behind anonymity, so an understanding could be reached, rather than the question come from a troll or condescending nature.

A hostile stance when asking questions, never helps anyone.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
