Is it wrong to downvote an answer on Quora just because you disagree with the author's views? If so how can one prevent or remedy this?

tynamite's avatar Yes it is, because let's not forget, that opinions are not facts, they're opinions. I believe that the Quora website should be more red, and Quora Product Designer Rebekah Cox probrably does not. That doesn't mean that she should downvote my answer if I have one on this, and vice versa.

Even with strong issues such as capital punishment and abortion, whether it's humane or not, millions of people in the 21st century still have their opinion, and we should respect that. Your opinion on serious and trivial things isn't any more or less important as mine. Our opinions are all of equal value.

All we can do is do what we think is right and try to make the world a better place. If someone else does something we don't like, we can express our opinion, but we shouldn't be offended or stigmatise them when they don't agree with our opinion.

Also downvoting things just because you don't agree with them, is an act of censorship. You can't deny that.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
