What is the "correct" Quora credit value of asking this question?

This is not a rhetorical question (though it is self-referential). Is the value of asking this question worth more than the 50 credits it "cost"?

The purpose of paying 50 credits to show questions to your followers, is to ensure that you help others, before others help you. This stops newbies from posting an influx of questions in one batch. This is called supply. You are supplying your questions. Whether anyone else is interested in your questions, that is a different story.

Right now, 3 people (besides Neal Kanodia who asked this question), are now following this question. They are interested in this question. But would they pay 50 credits to follow this question? Of course not! (For the sake of example, as it is with most questions on Quora, that people wouldn't, so let's assume the answer is no.)

It seems to be, that credits are used to gather people's contributions and interest, and not to find and view interesting content. Keep this in mind, as this is what credits are for.

We have already established that the 3 people here would not have paid 50 credits to follow this question. So now we will figure out what the demand for this question as in credits is, to find out how much credits this question is truly worth. And we will do this using simple economics.

In a sentence...
To find out what something is really worth, and not how much the supplier says it is worth; you can simply find out, by letting the free market decide.

In the example of finding out what the Quora credit value of asking this question is really worth, the real cost of Quora credits to ask questions, would be decided, by letting the people with the demand decide.

To do this, the process is very simple.

You would have to charge each person who follows this question, 50 credits, to find out whether they would participate in that or not. If not everyone who followed this question would want to do that, you would then have to continually decrease that charge from 50 decrementally to 0, until everyone who followed this question, could agree on a price. This is called demand.

If all 3 people would pay 50 credits to follow this question, the answer is 50.
If all 3 people would pay 25 credits to follow this question, the answer is 25.
If no one would pay 1 credit to follow this question, then Quora credits are worthless.

(The trick is to not let people know that you're going to decrease the price if they say no. That would be silly innit? Just ask people two prices, or have trial prices for different time periods.)

(As Quora credits are not worthless, they could be potentially converted to USD and traded for tasks in real life, as they are a currency.)

If you are performing this process to find out what something is truly worth, and you are offering something to someone, the price is fine to decrement from its original price.

If however, someone else has something that you want, and you want them to offer it to you, you would have to increment the price to find out what it is truly worth. (You would want to know the lowest price they would part with their stuff for, for example, a £200+ first class train ticket that you swap with yours on a train journey.)

There is a rule in economics, that sellers can know how much to charge something for, by if you pay for it. (Therefore, every time you pay for something expensive, you are telling that brand to keep making their stuff expensive. This is also why supermarkets have trial prices for new food products which are cheaper for a limited time.)

And right now, these 50 credits, you are actually paying for it! It could very well be, that the true price of Show question to followers, is actually 10 credits. How would you know?

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
