I have a feeling that women hold more power in society solely because of sex. Is this view correct?

tynamite's avatar Sorry to ruin the party, but sex is the most expensive activity and service one can partake in per hour. One hour of sex is more expensive than one hour on a plane. It's the most expensive activity, per hour on Earth. The only activity more expensive than sex per hour is a flight on Virgin Galactic!

It's very easy to look at the politicians and CEOs and state how a vast majority of them are male, but what people overlook is that only a stark minority of the population are politicians and CEOs, whereas 50% of the population are women. The only reason why the politicians and CEOs are male is because they know that women are attracted to money and power, because women are hypergamous. Men don't automatically get laid for being good looking and having money, which is why they're entrepreneurial. Men know that to be accepted in society they have to produce something of value. Women don't have to be good at anything to impress men, because err they're a woman.

Away from the movers and shakers in society, the majority of us have to go to work for a living. And in our plebeian lives, how much sex a millionaire is getting isn't important to us. What matters is our relationships with people, as humans are social creatures. The black president was no better than the previous white president, and a female president will be no better.

Men have more power on average and women have more power in general.

Before we look at how our society enables a patriarchal society, we should first look at the entrepreneurial people who dream of being rich. When was the last time you heard of a female music producer, or a female writer, or a female illustrator, or a female running a startup? Now compare that to men. It's not that women are being discriminated against or that women can't do these things, but instead that they don't want to do these things - they're not motivated enough. Sheryl Sandberg controversially said that women are not motivated enough. Research has shown, that this is true.

Consider, for example, how men and women differ in their college majors. Here is a list (PDF) of the ten most remunerative majors compiled by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce. Men overwhelmingly outnumber women in all but one of them:

1. Petroleum Engineering: 87% male
2. Pharmacy Pharmaceutical Sciences and Administration: 48% male
3. Mathematics and Computer Science: 67% male
4. Aerospace Engineering: 88% male
5. Chemical Engineering: 72% male
6. Electrical Engineering: 89% male
7. Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering: 97% male
8. Mechanical Engineering: 90% male
9. Metallurgical Engineering: 83% male
10. Mining and Mineral Engineering: 90% male

And here are the 10 least remunerative majors—where women prevail in nine out of ten:
1. Counseling Psychology: 74% female
2. Early Childhood Education: 97% female
3. Theology and Religious Vocations: 34% female
4. Human Services and Community Organization: 81% female
5. Social Work: 88% female
6. Drama and Theater Arts: 60% female
7. Studio Arts: 66% female
8. Communication Disorders Sciences and Services: 94% female
9. Visual and Performing Arts: 77% female
10. Health and Medical Preparatory Programs: 55% female

Much of the wage gap can be explained away by simply taking account of college majors. Early childhood educators and social workers can expect to earn around $36,000 and $39,000, respectively. By contrast, petroleum engineering and metallurgy degrees promise median earnings of $120,000 and $80,000. Not many aspiring early childhood educators would change course once they learn they can earn more in metallurgy or mining. The sexes, taken as a group, are somewhat different. Women, far more than men, appear to be drawn to jobs in the caring professions; and men are more likely to turn up in people-free zones. In the pursuit of happiness, men and women appear to take different paths.

Feminists like to talk about the patriarchy ruling society, but they cannot come up with coherent evidence of women being institutionally discriminated against in a way that stops women from being notable for a Wikipedia article. Less women are unemployed than men, which shows that most businesses favour women over men.

If you look at societies where males and females have an equal amount of power in society, such as schools, where nobody has a job and there's no discrimination based on gender, sexuality or race, you'll find that the females are valued more than males. If you look back, you'll notice ugly girls turning down 7's and 8's to be with 9's and 10's (which all the girls want and thus call players) while good looking guys are ignored, find it much easier to make friends with strangers of the opposite sex, and them being able to make someone feel guilty by crying or looking upset, which males cannot do.

Given any social situation, women have a great advantage because they have sexual leverage over men. Women underestimate this ability, and they take for granted how easy it is for them to make friends compared to a man. A woman can befriend 90% of the men she encounters, whereas a man cannot befriend 90% of the women he encounters.

Some evolutionary psychologists and scientists believe that men do everything they do socially and more, in order to get laid. The more you think about it, the more sense it makes. You see, men can't get 50 women to accept them on a dating site in 24 hours, so they have to do proactive things to get attention from 50 people in intellectual ways. According to the theory, this is why most millionaires, criminals and creative geniuses are men, why conferences have such trouble finding good women speakers for its debates, and why middle-aged men tend to leave their wives for younger women. Anything else a man does is either because he cannot get money or laid from it, or because he already has it and it's his free time. Research has shown that men once married have a decline in their creative output.

This may sound absurd, but if you look at other animals in the animal kingdom such as monkeys and tigers, they do everything they do to get laid, as the male fights other males in order to get the most resources so they can attract women, just like humans do in life with money, cars, jewellery, trainers, designer clothes, friends, wars and gangs. If it's true on the micro scale for mammals, it must be true for humans, considering we are 90% monkey genetically. It's not just flaunting that's involved, men only become feminists because they are white knights who hope to get laid. Given that women have equal rights, there's no ethical issues about feminism today to weigh on a man's conscience. These feminist men hope that by pandering to women's emotions, it'll put them a cut above the rest to give them better chances of getting laid. The theory that men do everything they do in order to get laid, is best demonstrated in online communities when men give women special treatment online. They do this because most gamers can't get sex or are virgins.

Norah Vincent is a woman who dressed up as a man so she could gain an insight of what it would be like to live as a man. After her experience, she ended up in a psychiatric hospital because it was worse than being a woman. She then said afterwards that she couldn't feel happier being a woman.

Men and women are not equal in the macro society level and the micro level of which you interact with your peers in. The truth is that anyone who watches enough nature shows will know that males do everything they do in order to get laid, and as by definition we are animals too with instinct, humans also do too. Also that women are valued more than men in social situations.

A third of men would marry someone they do not love [link], whereas a third of married women admit they have not found Mr Right [link]

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
