Why does life have a meaning?

tynamite's avatar Technically speaking, life has no meaning because it's just what it is. The Big Bang created life from a sequence of chemical reactions, with life following a system of evolution and chance, with no higher power interfering.

Emotionally speaking, life has no meaning because everything you do apart from eating, sleeping and breathing has no real point. People compose symphonies and live unfulfilled, people have family and commit suicide. In the world we live in, the things that we do to make ourselves happy or give our lives meaning, don't have any longevity. You can feel content with something, and the next year not feel the same way. We chase things in our lives, and when we have them, they're not enough to guarantee our happiness. Life means whatever it means to you at the time in its fickle way, and because it does, your meaning of life doesn't actually mean anything.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
