Why do many African-Americans pursue careers in music?
In my personal travels and experiences across America, I have noticed that a disproportionate (compared to other American ethnicities/races) percentage of black people are trying to "make it" in the ultra-competitive music industry. Barack Obama addressed this once or twice in 2008. Can someone explain this phenomenon and how it developed?

People go for the lowest hanging fruit, and if the music industry is what that is, that's what they'll go for to make money. If you add that to the fact that black people are the least educated race of all races *not being racist*, you can see why that's the avenue they choose.
