For example: Midwestern (generally considered generic US), Southern and East Coast.

tynamite's avatar Imagine a person talking into a metal can, and there being a tinny sound in their voice. That's what all Americans sound like! There's some skewed pitch and flat tone of voice going on.

It just sounds like a person talking into a metal can, whether it's southern, california, texas, or whatever.

Update

Here is a dramatised video with amateur dramatics, so you can know what your American accents sound like to us lot, except that you sound worse than how the video sounds. You would be very surprised.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
