Why do people usually date only other people of the same race?

Like Asian guys only date Asian women. African-Americans only date African-Americans. Indian people only date Indian people.

People like what is familiar

People can say that opposites attract as much as they want, but really we like people who are similar to us. We don't choose are friends because they are different than us. We choose them because we can identify with them. And who are the people we can identify with? The people with the same personality traits as us.

In life, people choose to become friends with people have a personality trait that they have. Because they share this trait, they can then identify with each other. This same concept spreads itself to relationships, but even further.

People are racist

All that anti-discrimination laws have done, is push racism underground. It is still there, but not in the explicit way that one might think. The best way to notice that racism still exists, is to count how many white people aged 18 and younger have jobs, and then compare that with the black and asian people of that age. White people have a much better chance of getting employed, and it's those people who have loads of experience on a CV at a young age. Racism has impacted on people's lives, without them being aware of it, and without it being common knowledge. This is something that I have seen in real life.

If that's what racism is like in terms of getting employed, imagine what it is like in terms of getting a relationship.

Prejudice people have their own prejudices about other races. They don't want another race's cultural values and perception impacting on them. They do not want to be in a relationship with someone who doesn't see the world as they do, or have the same values as they do. They also view their race to be superior to other races, and demean other races by the way that they talk about them. This is something that I have seen in real life as well. Having a relationship is more about preserving their race than finding someone they are compatible with.
