Why is it that most answers on Quora come from people who know what they are talking about?

Most Q&A forums feature lots of answers from people who want to help, but often don't know a whole lot about the topic. I don't see as many of those here. Why?

tynamite's avatar Answers on Quora don't come from people who know what they're talking about. Most of the answers on this website are anecdotal and therefore cannot be backed up with any facts.

It's not that the people here are more knowledgeable than others, it's just that the questions here are of a higher calibre. That allows people to answer with knowledge they already had locked up in their heads, that they could never be given the chance explain on Yahoo Answers.

Lots of the time when I post answers, people don't know what I'm talking about so I get loads of comments in my answers, so I have to make sure I give explanations for things. Some people also don't understand me.

We are not knowledgeable people. The minute you put us on Stack Exchange so our knowledge can be verified, that's when we won't have a leg to stand on.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
