If I'm gay and know I'm clean, is it ethical to lie to Red Cross screeners at blood drives when asked if I've ever had sex with a man?

tynamite's avatar A gay person without STIs who lies about being gay, actually reinforces negative stereotypes of gay people having AIDS and other STIs, as that's one less clean gay person for a charity to deal with. You would be the perfect example to prove the stereotype wrong.

You're only one person, but you alone could overturn prejudice that could install more prejudice in others, if left untouched.

Don't lie. It's not worth it.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
