What types of thinking are useless?
philosophy
advice
Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)
An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.
Richer people have better health.
The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?
And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
Narrow minded thinking
People who are narrow minded do not have the ability to see accept other viewpoint than their own. All evidence that supports X is supported, and all evidence that doesn't support X is ignored. A good example are Christians who are against gays, just because their religion says so. They are too busy brainwashed to know any better.Circular Reasoning
Circular reasoning is when people use their assertion as evidence for their assertion. These pages can explain it better than I can. http://ksuweb.kennesaw.edu/~shagin/logfal-pbc-circular.htm http://web.archive.org/web/20080905201012/http://home.olemiss.edu/~gbrown/reserve/fallacies_and_causes.htm People use circular reasoning to prove their existence in God. Religious people are deluded into thinking that their circular reason actually is logic.Superstitious thinking
Superstitious thinking, is when you correlate an unrelated event to an action you did. This page can explain it better than I can. http://www.xploremagic.com/Trick-or-Treat/derren-brown-trick-or-treat-superstition-season-2-episode-6.htmlPeople use superstitious thinking to believe black cats to bring bad luck, and praying to bring good luck.
I cannot find the link that gives loads of examples of illogical thinking. When I find it I'll share it.
