Why do some 20-somethings talk as if they will never get old?

I continually hear huge generalizations & jokes about "old people", "seniors" or "baby boomers" (always said with a sneer). It's as if people in their 20s and 30s think they won't grow old and be in this position themselves. Because, you know, to a teenager, someone who is 27 is "an old guy". To a child, you're ancient!

Are they in denial about the fact that they are getting older or does it just reflect a desire not to be older? Because there is nothing more sad than person who refuses to grow up (Peter Pan complex, it used to be called).

tynamite's avatar They don't. They're just living life, enjoying their youth while it lasts. They are living in the moment, taking life for all its worth, and maximising their chances.
The phrase "Don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today" applies here.

What's an assertion, and what should I type in?

Compesh is a question and answer (and debate) website, so before you make a debate, you better learn what an assertion is. I suppose you already know what a question is, and that you've typed it in the box. ;)

An assertion, is basically a statement you can make, that is either true or false.

Richer people have better health.

The question for that would be, Do richer people have better health?

And don't forget to make your assertion, match your question.
